NATHANIEL SWIFT

Writer, Artist, Teacher, Dad

Nathaniel Swift (he/him) is a published author, artist, teacher, dad, and pet parent living in Chicago. He currently teaches elementary & middle school media arts (which mostly means making movies with kids). He writes as often as he can; right now he's writing middle-grade sci-fi and mystery, time travel novels and short stories, picture books, and a bit of haiku (@haikuformykids at Twitter, Bluesky, and Instagram).

Nat's first published short story, BLUE SKIES, is included in the anthology The Accidental Time Travelers Collective, Volume 1. FROM NOW ON, a companion piece that tells the same story from a different point of view, is in Volume 3. His flash fiction pieces DAY TEN, YIELD AHEAD, and GHOSTS were selected for publication in Bunker Squirrel Magazine. He is also working with Big Sea Books to publish his debut novel, THE FIRST KID ON MARS, about a group of kids who move to Mars and save the solar system (with help from Winnie-the-Pooh).

In a previous chapter of his life, Nat was an award-winning actor and director, former Artistic Director of Eclipse Theatre Company. He has years of experience working with playwrights and ensembles, both children and adults, to develop stories.
